    I have recently started playing the oboe and felt like I was exhausted after practicing. Out of breath, winded, and needing to stop… this helped me so much. After following this advice I am much more comfortable. Made so much sense!

    Lots of good advice here,but why do you play the usual conformist/fashionable jazz style that's played by lots of trumpet players ? You should listen to Ruby Braff ,or Bobby Hackett,or Red Allen and try to develop an individual approach.

    I'm very proud to say, I have watched and learned from Carrie's vidoes and consequently decided to seek professional help from Macphail for Oboe, and Carrie was prescribed as my teacher. What are the odds, I figured she was in a different state, but no, less than 15 miles from me! What a gift! Great teacher! Down to earth, honest oboist. She'll take your crap Emerald reed and shave it down with a knife, you'll wonder what she is doing to your precious reed and it comes back 20x better. She will tell you oboe secrets you won't find online. She is a genius, amazing teacher, honor to work with. She's the real deal.

    as an oboe player in 8th grade, i dont know if this is right but it works fine for me, if you're on d sharp then all i do is switch my finger on the 4th key to the 5th key and then d comes out. dont know if that made sense but yeah lmao

    The conductor was pretty good. The rest of the group was OK.The ending could have been done better. It’s too bad that school teachers can’t think outside the box. But, that’s why they are school teachers. Amateurs.

  • @gregorydocenko4019

    Nice. The problem with the Suzuki school is artistry and understanding of music. Effort was there, but very far from reality. Students are not to be blamed. Suzuki is popular because it allows low level players to teach and play. Listen to real professional recordings.This performance was bad, but the student didn’t know any better because the teacher sucks. She should quit and do gardening or snow plowing.

    I've been playing the trumpet for about 8 years now, and my sound has been waning for the last few months now. I've been getting self concious while playing about what I should do with my air support (not as in nervous, as in I'm thinking actively about my air support). Just doing the basics from this I've had some of the best practice I've had in months. Thank you. The specific difference this made was that it made me realize that once I was getting concious about it, I was engaging a lower part of my core than I should have btw.

    What is this? You don't need much air to play the oboe? I play it, take private lessons, and all I hear is more air from my teacher. He also encourages diaphragm breathing which is not what you're doing here. And the guy's a professional who used to be first chair in the South Bend Symphony.

    • @blueberrypi1681
      @blueberrypi1681 Год назад

      Yes, you want to use as much air as possible, but compared to most other instruments, oboe needs very little air. It’s just not possible to fit that much air through such a tiny reed. This video just shows exercises to help learn to not take in too much air, and isn’t at all about how much air to blow out.

    • @Blokfluitgroep
      @Blokfluitgroep 2 месяца назад

      @@blueberrypi1681 Also, if someone says "more air" it could also mean: let the stream/flow go on and don't stop all the time within phrases.
